how'd we meet?

i've gotten so many questions on my instagram and my old tumblr blog, about how grant and i met. i never really thought 'our story' was any interesting, until i started telling it more and more. so, i figured; why not put our story in the beginning of our blog, so that anyone who really cares (probably no one), can know.

  • lets go back to eight years ago. eight years ago, grant and i shared a mutual friend. we'll call her 'penny'. penny and i had been friends, but lived in different cities, so we rarely got to see each other. but, when we did, we talked about everything and anything. penny and grant lived really close to each other, but went to different schools. they shared a good amount of mutual friends between one another, which is actually how penny and grant met- through her then boyfriend.
  • penny and i found ourselves taking a lot of pictures together. i mean, what do girls do? they take lots of pictures together. duh. and, she posted them on myspace (let me remind you, this was eight years ago, and myspace was super cool still.). grant had seen some of our pictures on myspace, and penny had showed some to him, when they were hanging out. in grant's words, "he was hooked, and thought i was the cutest thing there ever was." he was too embarrassed to ask penny for my information or anything, so he tried to find me on myspace. with no such luck. i was probably going by 'dolores' on myspace, because i thought it was cool to put my spanish class name as it. or maybe even 'syd-knee', because that's really clever. so, there was no hope in grant even finding me...
  • we crossed paths, when i was going to penny's house, and he was leaving. we made eye contact. i said 'hey', and he nodded and said 'hey' too. i guess, grant says he was too nervous to say anything else to me. (what a big baby!). he finally got the balls to ask penny for my number, but asked if that was creepy, since we barely said any words to each other. penny said, yes that it's creepy, and that i was in a relationship.
  • fast forward to five years ago: penny would tell both of us stories of one another. you know, the stories that you tell your good friend, thinking that it was just between you two. thanks penny, i mean thanks a lot! so, i had already known so much about grant, before i even met the poor kid. and i guess, she told him funny stories about me. i was told a lot about grant's relationship with his then girlfriend. i was always intrigued by it, because it was so rocky and unstable. penny set them up together, and felt pretty bad that his then girlfriend was treating him like crap.
  •  i was on penny's facebook, and saw grant's name. i decided to add him, to see if he was still in the crappy relationship. i had hung out with penny the other day, and she was mentioning that grant had enough, and was going to end things. so, i just was being nosy, obviously.
  • this is us five years ago. what we looked like:

  • he accepted my friend request, and he was single. and ever since then, we haven't stopped talking. five years ago, grant became my best friend. and i don't know what i'd do without that man. our story is funny, at least to me. but i think it's surreal that we ended up together, after all those years. after the crappy relationships we both ended up in, to end up with such a great one, is really awesome.
  • our timeline of our relationship. we've known each other (or about each other) for eight years, been together for five years, and in a relationship for four years, officially. and truly, i couldn't have picked a better person to grow old with. we really grew up with one another. i can't wait to see the next chapters in our lives. i can't wait to marry that man.
i hope that's not too boring. everyone jokes and says that we had fate on our sides, since after all those years, we ended up together. maybe. we have to thank penny mostly, for not keeping our secrets to herself, so we could know more about one another.

xoxo!
